The 𝔄𝔩𝔪𝔞𝔫𝔞𝔠𝔥 of UMPRUM Memories
MEMORIES AND THOUGHTS OF DAILY LIFE AT UMPRUM
The 𝕬𝔩𝖒𝔞𝖓𝔞𝖈𝔥 UMPRUM Memories is a project about collecting memories from UMPRUM students. I do this at the end of each semester during the Artsemestr exhibition, when I personally collect the papers with memories to archive them. For the first time during the winter semester of 2023/2024.
The archive will initiate a collective looking back to the past by sharing our stories, emotions and experiences from the past semester. We piece our personal perspectives together in a layered collage of what that time meant to all of us to both share and preserve our memories between ourselves. Precisely, because all of our personal experiences equally create the UMPRUM environment that we share.
UMPRUM is a collective of diverse personalities and therefore a shared space of different opinions, experiences and approaches. By taking a more honest look into what is going on in our shared space, maybe we can better move forward as a group of classmates, colleagues and most importantly friends.
On the website, you can see all the collected memories from previous years. As well as in the school library you will find physical originals preserved for future curiosity. So enjoy browsing and sharing reminiscence.
Mikuláš Beck is a student in the Studio of Architecture II – Future Architectures Platform studio at UMPRUM. He is focused on community and collective projects in which he is curious about the social overlaps of architecture. His work thematizes the importance of belonging – especially in the mental space of communities, which the author explores and continues to work with.
He has combined his architectural studies with a study internship at KALD DAMU with performative approaches to contemporary theater and is currently on an international study internship at the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen.
